Arkansas, This is Worth the “Weight“

Arkansas is hosting its first sumo tournament featuring some of the world’s heaviest and widest sumo wrestlers at the Hot Springs Convention Center. The event is part of the city’s sister-city relationship with Hanamaki in Japan and precedes the Cherry Blossom Festival. The tournament will involve some of the world’s heaviest sumo professionals, coming in at 570 pounds.

Grandmother Betrayed by Granddaughter

An 80-year-old woman in Turkey faces over 4 years in prison for hitting her granddaughter with a house slipper during an argument. The incident occurred when the grandmother tried to prevent her granddaughter from going out with friends. The young woman retaliated by hitting her grandmother on the head with her phone, causing her to bleed. Despite settling their dispute, a public case was opened, resulting in the grandmother being sentenced to 4 years and 2 months in prison.

Child Support at Conception

Senator Bryan Hughes proposed a significant change to child support laws in Texas. Under the bill, a father could be held responsible for paying retroactive child support starting from the date of conception rather than from the child’s birth. This means that a father would be financially responsible for helping to cover the cost of the pregnancy, including medical expenses, from the moment the child was conceived.
