Joy Reid Rocked Her Short Blonde Hair For Final Show
Joy Reid Delivers Final MSNBC Monologue Rocking Her Beautiful Blonde Do
Joy Reid has been a longtime trusted voice for the Black community on MSNBC. On her show, “The ReidOut,” she took politicians like President Donald Trump to task with her strong words and opinions. It was announced earlier this week that the beloved commentator’s show was one of a handful that would be cancelled due to low ratings. The shocking news sent waves through the news and journalism world, with many of her peers calling out MSNBC for their treatment of employees. Reid gave her final address on “The ReidOut” last night, proudly rocking her beautiful blonde cut.
Joy Reid Hair
Joy Reid boldly shaved her head last year after her blonde short cut was constantly compared to Trump’s comb-over. “It’s hair-free summer, everybody! Enjoy it!” the beloved host declared. Her new do was a hit with Black women who could relate to the freedom of chopping off old tresses.
“I think that Black women have come into our own in every aspect, insisting that we will be ourselves, including in the way we wear our hair,” Reid told theGrio’s Eboni K. Williams in 2020 (per Forbes). “There’s no reason we shouldn’t be able to embrace our hair as it is or how we reimagine it, and it’s an affirmation of our full arrival as citizens and cultural leaders. And yes, our natural hair is a political statement,” she added.
Reid’s colleague Rachel Maddow gave an impassioned speech about her friend while uplifting diversity concerns. “I will tell you. It is also unnerving to see that on a network where we’ve got two non-white hosts in primetime, both of our non-white hosts in primetime are losing their shows…” she said.
Maddow is one of many who echo the same sentiments in today’s current political climate when the media is under attack. Joy Reid has been the epitome of grace, delivering an encouraging and inspiring message. She also warned her audience about “facism.” “Fascism isn’t just coming, it’s already here,” she said.
In a call on Sunday on the Win With Black Women call, that she has been through “every emotion, from anger, rage, disappointment, hurt, feeling guilt that I let my team lose their jobs. But in the end, where I really land, and where I have landed on today is just gratitude.”
